Project Snapshot
Led UX design for Android’s first native Enterprise Mobility Management system — a lightweight, scalable solution tailored to small and medium-sized businesses. Designed the Google Cloud management portal and the device onboarding experience from the ground up.
Problem & Opportunity
Most EMM tools are expensive, complex, and require dedicated IT infrastructure — making them inaccessible to SMBs. Android’s goal was to offer a low-cost, easy-to-use alternative, bundled with basic Google Cloud offerings and usable by anyone familiar with Google products.

My Role
As the sole UX designer, I partnered closely with a UX researcher and worked cross-functionally with teams across Google Cloud and Android. I conducted multiple cross-org design sprints, facilitated alignment, and designed both the portal and device flows from scratch.

Key Activities & Process
- Mapped full service journeys across actors: SMB owners, employees, device sellers, and Android partners
- Conducted competitive audits and pain point analysis
- Facilitated design sprints with teams across Google Cloud and Android
- Prototyped and tested the end-to-end setup and management experience
- Balanced open-source constraints with Google’s product strategy
Design Highlights
Cloud Portal:
Built a simple interface where SMBs could enroll devices by scanning a QR code, instantly applying basic policies. Designed for ease, even for non-technical users.

Device Onboarding Flow:
Created a frictionless first-time setup experience for employees — with clear visibility into device policies and secure handoff into the managed ecosystem.

Impact
- Successfully launched and adopted by hundreds of SMBs
- Continues to be part of Android’s recommended enterprise management stack
- Demonstrated the viability of mobile-first EMM for small business markets
What I Learned
Cross-org alignment is critical — and time-sensitive. I learned the importance of converting key stakeholders (like Google Cloud) into partners early on to create smoother product development and better long-term ownership.
